Join us to be Inspired by Insects as part of the national celebrations for Silver Sunday. Inspired by Insects is an event for people of all generations to come together, meet new people and connect over fun and free activities, crafts, and specimens from our collections and our HOPE for the Future Project.
Drop in for Object Handling and intergenerational trails across the Museum of Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museum.
Bug Hotel Workshop, Drop-in
12- 4pm
Suitable for ages 8 +, suitable for family groups and independent adults
Drop in to build your own bug hotel or bee box with the University of Oxford’s Plan Bee Team. Hear more about this Citizen Science project and find out how you can look after bees in your local neighbourhood.
Iridescent Insects Art Workshop, Bookable
12 – 1pm, 1:30 – 2:30pm, 3 – 4pm
Suitable for family groups and independent adults
Create beautiful collages with artist Lois Muddiman inspired by iridescent insects from the museum’s British Beetle collection. Use gold leaf and collage papers to create your own greetings card to take away.
Poetry Workshops with Poet Dorothy Yamamoto, Bookable

Join local poet, Dorothy Yamamoto as she delves in to the Museum’s British Insect Collection. Get your creative juices flowing with this semi-structured poetry workshop and create your own poetry to celebrate these wonderful insects.
