Host a Silver Sunday event
Age UK’s Silver Sunday is all about having fun and bringing generations together through fantastic community events aimed at those over 50. It’s a moment to celebrate ageing and all that older people bring to our communities. If you’re interested in hosting an event this year, we’d love you to get involved!
How to host a Silver Sunday event
- Get planning! Think about the type of event you’d like to put on, what you’ll need and how people will book to attend.
- Recruit volunteers. Friendly helpers make your event feel extra welcoming – ask friends, family, colleagues and local groups if they can come and help out.
- Safety first. Make sure you consider your guests’ health and safety needs, including planning for those with limited mobility and checking insurance requirements.
- Promote your event. Let your community know what you’re doing using websites, social media and local papers – register your event to add it to the Silver Sunday map too!
- Have fun and celebrate ageing! The whole point of Silver Sunday is to bring people together. No matter what you choose to do, enjoy it! We have more detailed tips and ideas to help you plan your event in our event toolkit. Register your event to get yours today!

“We were proud to take part in the Silver Sunday celebrations with our Silver Screen event. It was wonderful to see the smiles on everyone’s faces and to have the opportunity to bring people together. Our aim was to create a warm and festive atmosphere where residents could share a special moment with their families.”
