Behind the Scene at Kensington Central Library – Silver Sunday Tour Part 1

Deep in the bowels of Kensington Central Library lies a fascinating world few have seen – a vast collection of tens of thousands of items carefully stored in our Biography Stores. These archives hold some of our oldest, rarest and most treasured artifacts, books and manuscripts, preserving stories that span centuries.

Here is a unique opportunity to delve into this hidden trove during a special guided visit organised in support of the Silver Sunday initiative.

This session will shine a spotlight on one of the most captivating aspects of our collection. These personal accounts offer an intimate glimpse into the everyday lives, struggles and triumphs of people living through London’s most transformative eras.

Join us for what promises to be a riveting session filled with history, stories and discovery. Afterwards, you are invited to enjoy refreshments, including tea and coffee between 12 noon to 1pm – an ideal chance to reflect on what you’ve learned and chat with fellow library and biography enthusiasts.

Please note: Spaces for this exclusive visit are limited. We kindly ask you to book only if you are able to attend, so that others may also enjoy this rare experience.

For those curious to learn more about the fascinating history of Kensington Central Library itself, don’t miss our Library Time Machine blog, where we share stories and insights from our archives.

We look forward to welcoming you on this extraordinary journey through time!
