The history of the Army spans almost four centuries of service across the globe. From its origins during the British Civil Wars when Parliament and Monarchy collided; to the formation of alliances to stop Napoleon’s advance; all the way through to the global First and Second World Wars; the Army has a long and intricate history that has shaped many aspects of society today.
In this introductory tour, join a member of the Museum’s Community Engagement team as they guide you across four of the Museum’s galleries, highlighting some of the unique items within the Museum’s collection. With items ranging from British Civil War weaponry and Napoleon’s favourite horse to a scale model of the Battle of Waterloo and the robes worn by Lawrence of Arabia, there is something to pique everyone’s interest on this highlights tour of the Museum.
Attendees will also get a chance to interact with the Museum’s handling collection, handling real items worn by soldiers over the centuries.

Wheelchair Access
Both our main and group entrance are accessible by wheelchair. Our main entrance is level access from the Royal Hospital Road, and our group entrance is accessed by ramp.
Seating
Fixed seating is available throughout the galleries. There is a mix of seating with and without arm rests available in all public areas, including the Café and outdoor area.
Toilets
We have toilets on every floor, and disabled access toilets on the ground and lower ground floor. We also have a Changing Places facility on the ground floor. The toilets near the Café are unisex.
Lifts
There is lift access to every floor of the museum, from two centrally located lifts. Stairs are also available.
Assistance dogs
We welcome all assistance dogs.
