At CVS Falkirk, we’re delighted to announce that our annual event celebrating the national Older People’s Day will return as “Age Is Just A Number” on Tuesday 1st October, 10am – 2pm at Falkirk Trinity Church!
The church is a fantastic new venue for this event, located at Manse Place, Falkirk, FK1 1JN – a short walk from the High Street, Howgate Shopping Centre, and the bus hub at Newmarket Street.
This year, we’ve a brand new focus on “Keeping Safe and Well in Your Community”; confirmed activities and guests include the return of ever-popular blood pressure and hearing checks, along with Police Scotland and their fake ATM machine. We’ll be promoting more activities closer to the event.
Jen Kerr, CEO of CVS Falkirk, commented, “We’re so excited to bring this event back with a brand new look and theme, and to be able to focus on the issues that older people in the Falkirk area have told us matter to them. This is an event for everyone, whatever you want to do or learn.”
Working with our partners at Solicitors for Older People (SOPS), we want to make the event as accessible as possible to everyone, whatever their age or lifestyle, because we know that these issues matter to us all.
“We particularly love the idea of Age Is Just A Number,” says Vivienne Malcolm from SOPS. “We’re often asked what age we consider people to be “older”, especially with 70 being called the new 50, and 50 the new 30.”
“The day itself is a fantastic opportunity for people to browse and find out about groups and clubs in their area, and make new friends over a cuppa in the café!”
So come along on Tuesday 1st October, no matter your age – whether you want to find out more about ATM fraud and scam awareness, start on some positive forward planning around Power of Attorney for yourself or any of your loved ones, or just want to know more about what’s available in Falkirk for you, your parents, grandparents, or anyone you care for.
