This is a survey with skilled bat leaders from the UK Bat Conservation Trust and London Bat Group with data collected previously between 2008 and 2011 as a baseline for the study in 2023. The survey is being repeated to learn more about the changes made to the lighting to reduce the negative impact of light pollution along the River Thames which is an important feeding ground for bats. All training and equipment will be provided. Please come dressed for the weather and bring a jacket/jumper as it gets cooler at night.
We will walk 2.2km stopping every 100m for the survey.
Meeting point: The surveys all start 30 minutes before sunset meeting at Richmond Bridge in Bridge House Gardens beside Tide Tables Café. We need volunteers to be on time to receive the training. Tide Tables Café is under Richmond Bridge on the Surrey bank. The postcode is listed as TW9 1TH on the towpath but best to use What3Words for exact location: **Meeting point: https://what3words.com/spicy.stay.ruins **
We will finish upriver roughly at 8.30pm and you can leave from there or power walk back to Richmond Bridge with the leaders.
