Come and have a look round this grand Georgian building in the centre of Marylebone, home of the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL).
The RPSL is the oldest philatelic society in the world, with a growing membership that covers the whole globe. But philately is not just about stamp collecting, as you’ll find out on your visit.
The guided tour will cover the history of the RPSL and the building. Don’t worry if you know nothing about stamps – everyone is welcome!
We will also explore highlights from the collections during a behind-the-scenes look at the museum and archive, providing an opportunity to look at items up close. Included in the tour is a rare chance to see where we authenticate stamps from around the world.
There is also a chance to see our permanent displays on the ‘lifecycle of the stamp’ from its design and production right through to when it becomes a collectable item. Self-guided tours of the Museum displays are available, and the Curator will offer a short guided-tour after the main tour has finished.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
