Open Age continues its partnership with Saatchi Gallery and showcases the work of Open Age members as part of a community exhibition which will be held in The Saatchi’s Learning Gallery (government guidelines permitting!) The exhibition will open on Monday 20th September – Sunday 3rd October with a closing event on Sunday 3rd October to celebrate Silver Sunday.
The exhibition open brief is ‘WRINKLES IN THE CITY’ which responds directly to our current exhibition JR: Chronicles.
Over the past two decades French artist JR has emerged as one of our most powerful storytellers and connectors of diverse worlds and communities. The largest exhibition of his work in the UK opened at the Saatchi Gallery, June 4th – Oct 3rd 2021
JR’s Wrinkles of the City project has been presented in various cities around the world where “wrinkles”, human as well as architectural, can be found. JR pasted in Cartagena, Spain, Shanghai, China, Los Angeles, USA, La Habana, Cuba, in collaboration with US artist José Parlá, Berlin and Istanbul.
Working at the intersections of photography, social engagement and street art, French artist JR creates site-specific public interventions that bring together varied groups of individuals to counter representations in the media and engage with critical social issues around the globe.
