Join one of our professional archaeologists to find out about the archaeology of the Bankside area of Southwark from the Thames footpath.
This walk is funded by the City Bridge Trust for Londoners aged over 65. Younger Londoners with mobility difficulties are also welcome. If you’re accompanying someone over 65 or someone with mobility difficulties you’re very welcome.
Please note: this event does not take place on the foreshore itself but on the footpath overlooking it.
The walk route has step free options along the whole route. Total walk length is about three fifths (0.6) of a mile or about a kilometre.
The meeting point for this walk is at Globe stairs in front of the reconstructed Globe Theatre, SE1. This is close to Bankside pier for the Thames Clipper service and to Southwark Bridge Bus stop served by the 344. Blackfriars Thameslink station (southern entrance) is in the middle of the route. The end point is close to Coin St. bus stop which is served by the 381. Please check with TFL regarding accessibility of these services.
