Silver Sunday is delighted to announce that it is partnering with ‘Championing Social Care’ in support of their first ever Care Home Open Week.
Taking place from 28th June – 4th July 2021, Care Home Open Week aims to connect care homes and the wonderful people who live there with their local communities. Care homes will be invited to host special events and activities throughout the week. As part of their Open Week calendar they will in particular be invited to celebrate older people in support of Silver Sunday.
Now in its tenth year, Silver Sunday has been the catalyst for thousands of activities for older people across the UK, including in the care sector. Every year on the first day Sunday in October, care providers such as Bupa, HC-One, Sanctuary and Bluebird Care have put on special events as part of the national day for older people. These have included Mad Hatters Tea Parties, virtual musical performances and Chair Yoga encouraging local communities to join in. This year Silver Sunday takes place on 3rd October 2021 and is aiming to have more than 2,000 activities for older people nationwide.

As part of the partnership the founder of Silver Sunday, Lady Christabel Flight, will be joining the Championing Social Care Ambassador team. Christabel has worked tirelessly for older people in Westminster for many years and is passionate about sharing the contributions that older people make to society.
